A Sadhu priest more commonly knows as a Hindu holy man on the banks of the Ganges river. قس سادهو أكثر شيوعا كما يعرف مكان مقدس للرجل هندوسي على ضفاف نهر الغانج.

After an initial short and uneventful stay in Delhi I was glad to arrive in Varanasi which happened to be the first destination to really triggered my interest in India. بعد إقامة قصيرة الأولية وهادئ في دلهي وكنت سعيدا ليصل في فاراناسي الذي حدث لتكون وجهة أول من أثار اهتمامي حقا في الهند. A place where you can experience first hand the magic of being in one of the most spiritual and colorful cities of India. مكان حيث يمكنك تجربة أول يد سحر يجري في واحدة من أكثر المدن الروحية والملونة في الهند. Varanasi is among the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and the holiest for Hindus. فاراناسي هي من بين أقدم المدن المأهولة في العالم ، وأقدس عند الهندوس. Pilgrims flock here from all over India and beyond to either wash away a lifetime of sins in the river Ganges, cremate their loved ones at the open air burning ghats or live out their final days. ويتوجه الحجاج الى هنا من جميع أنحاء الهند وخارجها لغسل بعيدا إما عمر من الخطايا في نهر الغانج ، حرق أحبائهم في الهواء ghats الحرق في الهواء الطلق أو العيش خارج أيامهم الأخيرة. As it is said that anyone who dies in Varanasi attains instant enlightenment or “moksha” and is liberated from the cycle of reincarnation. كما يقال أن كل من يموت في فاراناسي يبلغ التنوير الفورية أو "موكشا" ، ويتحرر من دورة التناسخ. I got to encounter just how important the city is to Hindus even before I arrived, as right next to me on the plane from Delhi was an elderly couple where the wife was caring for her terminally ill husband which didn't seem to have much more than a few days to live and wished to go die there. وصلت الى لقاء مدى أهمية المدينة عند الهندوس حتى قبل وصولي ، وبجوار لي على الطائرة من نيودلهي وزوجين مسنين حيث كانت زوجته رعاية زوجها بمرض عضال والتي لا يبدو أن لديها أكثر من ذلك بكثير من بضعة أيام في العيش ، وتمنى أن يذهب يموت هناك.

Varanasi is rather small and all it's points of interest are within walking distance so all you really need to do is meander through the alleys of the old city and go on a stroll along the Ghats of the Ganges river and let yourself be absorbed by the experience. فاراناسي هي صغيرة نوعا ما ، وجميع انها النقاط المثيرة للاهتمام وعلى مسافة قريبة جدا كل ما عليك القيام به حقا هو تسكع من خلال أزقة المدينة القديمة وتذهب في نزهة على طول Ghats من نهر الجانج واسمحوا أن تستوعب نفسك من خلال التجربة . For those who might wonder ghats are a series of stone steps that lead down to the water which the city consists of an endless series of but before deciding to jump in for purification bath with the other average 60000 daily pilgrims, remember that on this same 7 KM stretch there are 30  sewers discharging heavy polluting into the river. وبالنسبة لأولئك الذين قد يتساءلون ghats هي سلسلة من الخطوات التي تؤدي الحجر وصولا الى المياه التي تتكون المدينة من سلسلة لا نهاية لها من قبل ولكن البت في القفز في حمام للتنقية مع المتوسط الأخرى 60000 حاج يوميا ، ونتذكر أنه في نفس هذا 7 كم تمتد هناك 30 تصريف المجاري الثقيلة الملوثة الى النهر. While the World Health Organization suggests bathing water should have no more than 500 bacteria per 100mL; the Ganges has 1.5 million bacteria for the same quantity of water making it septic so think twice! وينبغي على الرغم من أن منظمة الصحة العالمية تشير إلى مياه الاستحمام ليس لديهم أكثر من 500 جرثومة لكل 100ml ؛ نهر الجانج و1500000 البكتيريا لنفس الكمية من مياه الصرف الصحي مما يجعلها تعتقد ذلك مرتين!

But best be warned that Varanasi has also a darker side and boats the reputation of being 2nd only to Agra's Taj Mahal for the amount of unscrupulous touts, con-men and swindlers roaming around. ولكنه حذر من أن أفضل فاراناسي لديها أيضا الجانب المظلم وزوارق سمعة 2 يجري فقط لتاج محل في اغرا عن مبلغ تنتهج عديمي الضمير ، يخدع الرجل والنصابين يتجولون. As the moment you leave the sanctity of your guesthouse or hotel you will be bombarded with all sorts of offers and questions:  Massage? كما لحظة مغادرة حرمة دار الضيافة الخاص بك أو الفندق الذي ستتعرض للقصف مع كل أنواع العروض والأسئلة : تدليك؟ Where you go? أين تذهب؟ Boat ride? ركوب قارب؟ Ganja? غانجا؟ Where you from? أين أنت من؟ give money? إعطاء المال؟ Buy me candy? تشتري لي الحلوى؟ How are you? كيف حالك؟ Need Rickshaw? الحاجة العربة؟ Cab? سيارة أجرة؟ Visit my shop? زيارتي متجر؟ Souvenirs? الهدايا التذكارية؟ Silk shop? متجر الحرير؟ Sari shop? ساري متجر؟ Hungry? جائع؟ Tour? جولة؟ Though they are not nasty or threatening this might get on your nerves but eventually tell yourself that after ignoring them long enough they'll pick on the next fresh tourist meat that's arrived. على الرغم من انها ليست سيئة أو تهديد هذا قد تحصل على الأعصاب الخاصة بك ولكن في النهاية اقول ان نفسك بعد تجاهلها لفترة كافية انهم سوف يلتقط على اللحوم الطازجة السياحية التالية التي وصلت.
